Park Brake Cable Replacement - Front
Park Brake Cable Replacement- Front
Removal Procedure
1. Release the park brake.
2. Remove the left front bucket seat. Refer to Seat Replacement - Front Bucket in Seats.
3. Remove the park brake lever. Refer to Park Brake Lever Assembly Replacement.
4. Remove the floor console assembly. Refer to Console Replacement - Front Floor in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Warning Indicators.
5. Lift the carpet in order to access the 2 screws (4).
6. Remove the 2 screws.
7. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
8. Wrap cloth or tape around the left rear cable near the equalizer.
9. Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, pull the left rear cable forward and up in order to release the cable from the equalizer.
10. Pull the insulation for the left rear cable rearward in order to release the cable from the bracket.
11. Wrap cloth or tape around the right rear cable near the equalizer.
12. Using pliers on the wrapped portion of the cable, pull the right rear cable forward and up in order to release the cable from the equalizer.
13. Pull the insulation for the right rear cable rearward in order to release the cable from the bracket.
14. If necessary, remove the propeller shaft. Refer to Propeller Shaft Replacement - Two Piece in Propeller Shaft.
15. Remove the bolt (5) from the bracket.
16. Push the front cable and the equalizer through the aperture in the floor pan.
17. Remove the front cable and the equalizer from the interior of the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
1. From the interior of the vehicle, push the equalizer through the aperture in the floor pan.
2. Install the front cable seal to the aperture in the floor pan.
3. Install the 2 screws (4).
Important: Install the adjusting nut in order to retain the cable to the lever. Do not tighten the adjusting nut.
