8. Remove the water pump as follows:

1. Remove the six water pump retaining bolts (1).
2. Remove the water pump (2).
3. Remove the water pump gaskets (3) and discard.

9. Clean and inspect the water pump mating surface.

Installation Procedure 

1. Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the water pump as follows:

1. Position the water pump gaskets (3) to the water pump.
2. Position the water pump (2) to the cylinder block.
3. Install the six water pump retaining bolts (1). Progressively tighten the water pump retaining bolts in two steps:

1. Tighten the water pump retaining bolts, first pass, to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
2. Tighten the water pump retaining bolts, second pass to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.).
