connection for approximately 1 minute.
4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
Tighten the flare nut.
Tighten the flare nut to 14 Nm (10 ft. lbs.).
Manual Bleeding Procedure
1. With the ignition switch in the OFF position and the brakes cool, press the brake pedal several times in order to deplete the vacuum assist system
reserve.
2. Clean the master cylinder reservoir cap.
3. Clean the brake fluid reservoir.
4. Remove the reservoir cap.
5. Remove the reservoir cap seal.
6. Important: Ensure the brake fluid level stays above half-full during the bleeding procedure.
Fill the reservoir with GM Vehicle Care Brake and Clutch Fluid Super DOT-4, GM P/N 88958860, or the equivalent DOT-4 brake fluid.
7. Install the reservoir cap seal.
8. Install the reservoir cap.
9. Remove the bleeder valve cap.
10. Place the bleeder valve wrench on the bleeder valve.
11. Install a transparent hose (1) over the end of the bleeder valve (2). Submerge the other end of the hose in a transparent container (5) partially filled
with brake fluid.
12. Have the assistant slowly press the brake pedal and maintain pressure on the brake pedal.
13. Loosen the bleeder valve in order to purge air from the wheel hydraulic circuit.
14. Close the bleeder valve.
Tighten the bleeder valve to 12 Nm (106 inch lbs.).
15. Have the assistant slowly release the pedal.
16. Wait 15 seconds.
17. Repeat this procedure until all of the air (6) is purged from the wheel hydraulic circuit.
18. Remove the hose from the bleeder valve.
19. Remove the wrench from the bleeder valve.
20. Install the bleeder valve cap.
21. Repeat this procedure at all bleeder valves that require bleeding.
22. Ensure the brake fluid level is correct.
23. Slowly press and release the brake pedal. Observe the feel of the brake pedal.
24. If the brake pedal feels spongy, repeat the bleeding procedure.
25. Inspect the hydraulic brake system for external leaks.
26. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position with the engine OFF. Inspect the instrument cluster.
27. If the brake system warning lamp remains illuminated, refer to Symptoms - Hydraulic Brakes.
