Fuel Line Coupler: Service and Repair

QUICK CONNECT FITTING(S) SERVICE (METAL COLLAR)

J 37088-A Tool Set, Fuel Line Quick Connect Separator

REMOVAL PROCEDURE

1. Before you service any fuel system connection, relieve the fuel system pressure Refer to the Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure.
2. Slide the dust cover from the quick-connect fitting.

3. Use compressed air in order to blow any dirt from the fitting.

CAUTION:  Wear safety glasses when using compressed air, as flying dirt particles may cause eye injury.

4. Choose the correct tool for the size of the fitting from J 37088-A or EN-46843 quick release tool kits. Insert the selected tool into the female

connector, then push inward in order to release the locking tabs.

5. Pull the connection apart.
6. Using a clean shop towel, wipe off the male pipe end.

NOTE:  If necessary, remove rust or burrs from the fuel pipes with an emery cloth. Use a radial motion with the fuel pipe end in order to prevent
damage to the O-ring sealing surface. Use a clean shop towel in order to wipe off the male tube ends. Inspect all the connections for dirt and burrs.
Clean or replace the components and assemblies as required.

7. Inspect both ends of the fitting for dirt and for burrs. Clean or replace the components as required.
