1. Raise hood and remove strut protective cap and three strut to body attaching nuts.
2. Raise and support vehicle, support suspension using suitable jack stands.
3. Remove wheel and tire assembly, then install modified inner drive joint boot protector tool No. J-34754, or equivalent.
4. Using tool J-24319, or equivalent, disconnect tie rod from strut assembly.
5. Remove strut to steering knuckle attaching bolts, Fig. 7, then remove strut from vehicle.
6. Reverse procedure to install.
Disassembly/Assembly
Disassembly
1.
Position strut compressor J-34013 in holding fixture J-3289-20.
2.
Position strut in strut compressor, then compress strut approximately 1/2 of its height. Use care not to bottom spring or damper rod.
3.
Remove nut from strut dampener shaft, then position guide rod J-34013-27 on dampener shaft. Use guide rod J-34013-27 to position dampener
shaft down through bearing cap while compressing coil spring.
4.
Remove components from coil strut unit.
