Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Front Coil Spring

EXC. FIREBIRD

1.

Support vehicle at frame and remove wheel.

2.

Disconnect shock absorber from lower control arm and push shock absorber through hole in lower control arm up into spring.

3.

Remove stabilizer link nut, link, spacer, grommets and retainer.

4.

Support lower control arm with tool J-23028 bolted onto a suitable jack.

5.

Install a safety chain through spring and lower control arm, remove the two lower control arm to frame crossmember pivot bolts. Lower jack,
allowing spring to expand and remove spring.

6.

Reverse procedure to install. Torque lower control arm to frame attaching nuts, with weight of vehicle on wheels, to 90 ft. lbs. on Parisienne and
Safari, or 65 ft. lbs. on all other models.
