Camshaft Position Sensor: Service and Repair
CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REPLACEMENT
REMOVAL PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor electrical connector.
2. Remove the CMP sensor fastener (2).
3. Remove the CMP sensor (1) from the camshaft housing (3).
INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
IMPORTANT: Inspect the CMP sensor O-ring for the following conditions:

Any wear
^
Any cracks
^
Any leakage
Replace the O-ring if necessary. Lubricate the new O-ring with engine oil before installing the O-ring.
1. Install the CMP sensor (1) into the camshaft housing (3).
NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.
2. Install the CMP sensor fastener (2).
Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 15 N.m (11 lb ft).
3. Connect the CMP sensor harness connector.
