Air Leaking From I/P Vents in Heater or Defrost Modes
(Replace Mode Valve Vacuum Actuator; Add Clip to HVAC Module Case)

Condition
Some owners may comment that air can be felt coming through the instrument panel (I/P) vents while the HVAC system is in "Heater" or "Defrost"
mode. No air should be felt through the I/P vents in these modes.
Cause
The mode valve may not seal tightly to the HVAC module, allowing air to escape through the I/P vents.
Correction
Replace the mode valve vacuum actuator and add a clip to the HVAC module case.
Remove or Disconnect
1.
Negative battery cable.
2.
Disable SIR, refer to Section 9J of the Service Manual.
3.
Drivers side hush panel.
4.
Actuator from module.
5.
I/P pad. Refer to Section 8C2 of the Service Manual.
6.
Air distribution duct.
7.
Actuator link from mode valve lever.
8.
Actuator from vehicle.
