1996 GMC SONOMA
1996 PONTIAC SUNFIRE
WITH 2.2L (RPO LN2) VIN ENGINE CODE 4 ENGINE
General Motors has determined that some 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier, Corsica, Beretta, and S10, GMC Sonoma and Pontiac Sunfire models equipped with
the 2.2L (RPO LN2) VIN Engine Code 4 engine were built with some fuel injectors that may have been subjected to a stress of the plastic encapsulant.
After an extended period of time and mileage, the fuel injectors in some of these vehicles may exhibit leakage of fuel vapor that may cause the vehicle to
be out of compliance with evaporative emission standards.
To prevent this condition from occurring, dealers are to inspect the date codes of fuel injectors on the affected vehicles and if necessary, replace any fuel
injectors with involved date codes.
