5. Have an assistant pull the cable until the notch on the ratchet (1) is visible through the cover plate opening (4).
6. Push the pawl spring (5) downward toward the notch in the ratchet (1).
7. Have an assistant release the cable slowly in order to allow the notch (1) to catch the leg of the spring (5).
8. Remove the front parking brake cable button (I) from the reel assembly.
9. Use the J37043 in order to remove the cable conduit end fitting (4) from the handle assembly (2).
10. Disconnect the cable (3) from the equalizer.
