Suspension Spring ( Coil / Leaf ): Service and Repair
Front Coil Spring

1.

Support vehicle by frame, remove wheel and tire assembly.

2.

Disconnect stabilizer bar from lower control arm and tie rod from steering knuckle.

3.

Support lower control arm using a suitable jack.

4.

Loosen lower ball joint stud nut, then use tool J-26407 or equivalent to free stud from steering knuckle. Position knuckle and hub out of way and
remove stud nut. Discard stud nut. The stud nut is of special design and must be replaced whenever removed or loosened.

5.

Loosen lower control arm pivot bolts.

6.

Install a safety chain around spring and through lower control arm.

7.

Slowly lower control arm until spring is extended as far as possible, then use pry bar to carefully lift spring over lower control arm spring seat.
