Oil Filter Adapter: Service and Repair
Oil Filter Adapter and Bypass Valve Assembly Replacement
Removal Procedure
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Vehicle Lifting.
2. Remove the oil filter.
3. Remove the oil filter adapter bolts (2).
4. Remove the oil filter adapter (1) and gasket from the engine block.
5. Remove the oil filter bypass hole plug.
6. Important: Do not pry against the threads in the oil filter bypass hole when removing the bypass valve.
Insert a flat-bladed tool into the oil filter bypass hole and force the bypass valve out in order to remove the bypass valve.
