7. Inspect the surface of the brake rotor. Refinish or replace the rotor as necessary. Refer to Brake Rotor Surface and Wear Inspection. See: Testing

8. Measure the brake rotor assembled lateral runout. Refinish or replace the rotor as necessary. Refer to Brake Rotor Assembled Lateral Runout

Measurement
Installation Procedure
1. If the caliper piston (13) is not compressed into the caliper bore, complete the following:
1.1. Wrap the handle of a hammer with tape.
1.2. Use the handle of a hammer in order to compress the caliper piston into the caliper bore.
2. Apply disc brake insulator silicone lubricant, GM P/N 1801908, or an equivalent lubricant, to the pad side of a new inner pad insulator (1).
3. Install the inner pad insulator to the inner pad (2).
4. Install the inner brake pad to the caliper with the wear indicator facing upward
5. Apply disc brake insulator silicone lubricant, GM P/N 1801908, or an equivalent lubricant, to the pad side of a new outer pad insulator (8).
6. Install the outer pad insulator to the outer pad (3).
7. Install the outer brake pad to the caliper.
8. Install the springs (7,9) to the pads.
9. While pressing the inner spring (1), install the upper pad guide pin (2) and the lower pad guide pin.
10. Install the clip to the pad guide pin.
11. Install the tire and wheel assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
12. Lower the vehicle.
13. With the engine OFF, gradually apply and release the brake pedal several times in order to position the caliper pistons and the brake pads.
14. Fill the master cylinder fluid reservoir. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling in Hydraulic Brakes. See: Hydraulic System/Brake Master

15. Burnish the pads and the rotors. Refer to Burnishing Pads and Rotors. See: Burnishing Pads and Rotors
