Fuel Injector: Service and Repair

Fuel Injector Replacement

Tools Required

J 43178  Fuel Line Disconnect Tool

Removal Procedure

1. Remove the 2 fasteners.
2. Remove the 2 plastic retainers.
3. Remove the engine cover (1) from the engine.
4. Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief (FWD)   (See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair/Fuel Pressure Relief

Procedure)Fuel Pressure Relief (AWD)   (See: Fuel Filter/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair/Fuel Pressure Relief Procedure).

5. Remove the quick connect coupling cover.

6. Disconnect the coupling for the fuel feed hose from the fuel feed pipe of the fuel rail using the J 43178  . Use a shop towel in order to catch any

remaining fuel that may leak. Refer to Metal Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service   (See: Fuel Line Coupler/Service and Repair/Quick Connect
Fitting(S) Service (Metal Collar)).

7. Disconnect the breather hose from the cylinder head (1).
