Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) Replacement

J 36850 Transjel Transmission Assembly Lubricant

Removal Procedure 

1. Caution:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in Service Precautions.

Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Disconnect the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) electrical connector (1).
3. Remove the 1 retaining bolt and the VSS from the transaxle.
4. Inspect the VSS O-ring for cuts or damage. Replace as necessary.

Installation Procedure 

1. Apply J 36850 to the VSS O-ring.

2. Notice:  Refer to Fastener Notice in Service Precautions.

Install the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) into the transaxle case. Secure the VSS with the retaining bolt.
Tighten the VSS speed sensor (VSS) bolt to 6 Nm (53 inch lbs.). 

3. Connect the VSS electrical connector (1).
4. Connect the negative battery cable.
