7. Turn the pulley, and then check that the water pump bearing moves smoothly without making a "click" sound.
If it does not move smoothly, replace the water pump assembly.
8. Install the water pump pulley.
9. Install the right engine mounting insulator subassembly. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement (See: Engine/Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and
Accessories/Engine Mount/Service and Repair).
10. Install the generator assembly. Refer to Generator Replacement (2.4L) (See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and
Repair)Generator Replacement (1.8L) (See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair).
11. Install the radiator surge tank assembly. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (See: Coolant Reservoir/Service and Repair).
Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning (See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service Precautions).
1. Disconnect cable from negative battery terminal. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection (See: Starting and
Charging/Battery/Battery Cable/Service and Repair).
2. Remove the left engine under cover.
3. Remove the right engine under cover.
4. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling (See: Service and Repair).
5. Separate the radiator reserve tank assembly. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement (See: Coolant Reservoir/Service and Repair).
6. Remove the v-ribbed belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement (See: Engine/Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and
Repair).
7. Remove the generator assembly. Refer to Generator Replacement (2.4L) (See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and
Repair)Generator Replacement (1.8L) (See: Starting and Charging/Charging System/Alternator/Service and Repair).
8. Remove the right engine mounting insulator subassembly. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement (See: Engine/Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and
