Intake Manifold: Service and Repair

Intake Manifold Replacement

Removal Procedure

1. Discharge fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief   (See: Cylinder Head Assembly/Fuel Pressure Release/Service and Repair/Fuel

Pressure Relief)
Warning:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning   (See: Starting and Charging/Battery/Service Precautions)

2. Disconnect the cable from negative battery terminal. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection   (See: Starting and

Charging/Battery/Battery Cable/Service and Repair).

3. Remove the windshield wiper motor and link assembly. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement   (See: Wiper and Washer Systems/Wiper

Motor/Service and Repair/Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement)

4. Remove the outer cowl top panel.
5. Remove the suspension tower damper assembly (with front strut bar).
6. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement   (See: Service and Repair/Removal and Replacement/Engine Cover Replacement).
7. Drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling   (See: Cooling System/Service and Repair).
8. Remove the air cleaner cap with hose.
9. Remove the throttle body assembly.

10. Disconnect the fuel main tube.
11. Disconnect the ventilation hose.
12. Remove the fuel delivery pipe sub-assembly.

13. Disconnect the union to check valve hose (4) from the brake booster.
14. Disconnect the camshaft timing oil control valve connector.
15. Remove the wire harness clamp.
16. Remove the union to check valve hose from the vacuum hose clamp.
17. Remove the 5 bolts (1, 3, 8, 10, 11), 2 nuts (2, 5) and intake manifold.
