Begin diagnosis with the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle (See: Testing and Inspection/Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview/Diagnostic
System Check - Vehicle).The Diagnostic System Check will provide the following information:

The identification of the control modules which command the system
*
The ability of the control modules to communicate through the serial data circuit
*
The identification of any stored diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and their status
The use of the Diagnostic System Check will identify the correct procedure for diagnosing the system and where the procedure is located.

This table identifies which serial data link that a particular module uses for in-vehicle data transmission. Some modules may use more than one data link
to communicate. Some modules may have multiple communication circuits passing through them without actively communicating on that data link. This
table is used to assist in correcting a communication malfunction. For the description and operation of these serial data communication circuits, refer to
Data Link Communications Description and Operation (See: Description and Operation).
