Alternator: Service and Repair

Generator Replacement (2.4L)

Removal Procedure

Warning:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning   (See: Battery/Service Precautions).

Note:  When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection   (See: Battery/Battery

Cable/Service and Repair).

2. Remove the engine under cover right hand side.

3. Remove the v-ribbed belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement   (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Drive Belts, Mounts, Brackets and

Accessories/Drive Belt/Service and Repair).

4. Remove the terminal cap (2).
5. Remove the nut (1) and disconnect the wire harness from terminal B.
6. Disconnect the generator connector (3) and 2 harness clamps.
