Starter Motor: Service and Repair

Starter Replacement (2.4L)

Removal Procedure

Warning:  Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning   (See: Battery/Service Precautions).

1. Disconnect the cable from negative battery terminal. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection   (See: Battery/Battery

Cable/Service and Repair).

2. Remove the engine cover. Refer to Engine Cover Replacement   (See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Service and Repair/Removal and

Replacement/Engine Cover Replacement)

3. Remove the air cleaner cap assembly.
4. Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement   (See: Battery/Service and Repair).
5. Remove the battery carrier. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement   (See: Battery/Battery Tray/Service and Repair).

6. Disconnect the wire harness.
7. Release the claw, and disconnect the wire harness.
