Hood Safety Latch Modification

General Information

This is to notify you of a voluntary Recall Campaign which involves 2451 Porsche Carrera 4 and Carrera 2 vehicles of model years 1989 and 1990
within the following VIN'S:

It was determined that pieces of luggage in the luggage compartment and/or a plastic trim piece surrounding the safety latch may prevent the safety latch
on the front hood from properly locking. If the safety latch is not properly locked and if the front hood is left unlocked or is mistakenly opened while
driving, the front hood could open, obstructing the driver's front view, which may result in an accident.

Customer Notification

Porsche Cars North America, Inc. will notify all owners of vehicles within the Recall VIN ranges and on file at Porsche Cars North America, Inc. on
January 28, 1991, or as soon as sufficient quantity of parts are at the dealerships. The Customer Notification will be by 1st class mail with a two-piece
postcard. See enclosed copy.

Please perform the Recall Campaign on all applicable customer vehicles in your dealership.

For those vehicles for which the sales information is not in our files, the notification will be addressed and mailed to the dealer who received that vehicle.
If the vehicle is in dealer inventory, new or used and/or in demo use, the Campaign should be performed without delay. If the vehicle has been retailed or
dealer traded, the dealer is to make the necessary arrangements to have the customer or receiving dealer contacted and the Campaign performed.

A listing of all VIN's with owners' names and addresses in your area within the Recall. VIN ranges will be sent to you shortly.

Please note that there are two (2) different work procedures attached, "A" and "B", applicable for different VIN range(s).

Parts Requirement

One initial shipment of parts to commence this Recall Campaign will be shipped to your dealership by January 25, 1991. Additional parts are to be
ordered on a need-to-have basis through your Porsche Cars N.A. parts specialist in Reno.
