Lower edge of piston flush with surface of assembly funnel

5.6.

Guide the piston -1- into the cylinder bore and carefully position the funnel -2- on the crankcase.

Press the piston into the cylinder bore immediately and hold the assembly funnel -1- firmly while doing this. The wooden handle of a hammer
-2- can be used to do this.

Remove assembly funnel.

5.9.

Piston assembly aid 9787 for 3.6-liter pistons or piston assembly aid 9787/1 for 3.8-liter pistons must now be screwed to the handle of the
assembly aid 9598.

5.10.

Use assembly aid 9787 or 9787/1 -1- to press the piston into the cylinder bore as far as the contact surface of the centering mandrel 9782 -2-.
