Installation of Sport Rocker Panels

ATTENTION: Service Manager / Service Technician

Models Affected: 
911 Carrera from Model Year 1995
911 Carrera 4 from Model Year 1995

General Information: 
The above mentioned vehicles can be retrofitted with sport - rocker panels. The new panels will need to be painted in the vehicle color.

Installation:

1.

Remove both rear wheels.

2.

Remove present rocker panels (see Workshop Manual Carrera 2/4, volume 5, group 66).

3.

It may be necessary to rework the rocker panels or fender liners to properly fit the vehicle. Cut the plastic fender liners on the bottom to fit the
contour of the new rocker panels (Figure 1 black arrow - hatch marks).

4.

Mark the securing points on the fender liners:

a.

Install new rocker panel, mark hole position on the fender liner.

b.

Drill two (2) 8 mm diameter holes (Figure 1 - white arrows).

c.

Install sheet metal nuts.

5.

Clean the gluing area with a cleaning solvent and apply the primer. Drying time for the primer is a minimum of 20 minutes.
