Concern:
As of model year 1996, Tiptronic transmission control units (TCU) sold as spare parts must be coded for the country in which the vehicle is operated
(RDW, USA or Taiwan).
Coding Procedure:
Should replacement of the TCU become necessary, the TCU must be coded for the USA. Vehicles produced for Canada are also coded for USA. The
coding procedure is as follows:

Connect the system tester 9288 and select vehicle type 911.

Select "Tiptronic" from the menu.

Select "Country Coding" from the menu. This will display the country coding and where it was coded (factory or repair shop).
The system tester screen appears as shown:

To select coding, press 1. The menu will list your coding options as shown:

Select the proper version coding (i.e. 2 for USA). The system tester will appear as follows:
