Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair

1.

Remove intake hoses and upper section of air cleaner assembly.

2.

Drain both chambers of master cylinder by pumping out brake fluid via bleeder valves of front or rear brake calipers.

3.

Disconnect vacuum hose with check valve at brake booster.

4.

Disconnect vacuum line on branch, electrical connector for warning device, and hose for clutch control.

5.

Remove brake fluid tank and disconnect electrical connectors for stop light switches.

6.

Disconnect brake lines.

7.

Remove master cylinder attaching bolts and the master cylinder.

8.

Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Replace O-ring between master cylinder and brake booster.
b. Install master cylinder and connect brake lines.
c. Press brake fluid tank into sealing plugs in master cylinder.
d. Fill brake fluid tank with suitable fluid and bleed brake/clutch system.
