For model year 1989, a new coolant pump and thermostat are installed on 4 cylinder engines. The engine cooling thermostat is changed as follows
(Figure 1):
Arrow 1 - the sealing ring is wider
Arrow 2 - the sealing and support of the thermostat has been changed by the installation of a supporting washer between the thermostat and retaining
circlip.
This change occurred in production from the following engine numbers:
