This bulletin replaces Technical Bulletin Group 2, Number 9003, dated 3-23-90.
Models Affected:
944 2.7L and 944 Turbo Model Year 1989
Concern:
Air flow sensor mounting bolts which are not secured with LOCTITE 270 may loosen due to normal engine
vibration. These bolts and/or their washers could fall out and be drawn into the engine intake system.
Vehicle Information:
Vehicles involved are from VIN numbers:
95_KN 150001 to 95_KN 151098-944 Turbo 94_KN 450001 to 94_KN 452631-944
These vehicles must be checked and repaired if necessary while the vehicle is in the workshop for normal
service or other repairs.
Repair Procedure:
1. Remove air cleaner upper part and filter element.
2.
Loosen sensor bolts by one turn. If moderate to heavy resistance to turning is felt, the bolts have
LOCTITE 270 installed. Tighten bolts to 10 N-m (7.3 ft.lbs.) after checking.
Important All Mounting Bolts must be checked.

If the bolts turn easily, they must be removed, cleaned and reinstalled using LOCTITE 270. Tighten
sensor bolts to 10 N-m (7.3 ft.lbs.).
4.
Reinstall filter element and air cleaner upper part.
