Heater Core: Service and Repair

1. Drain coolant, then discharge A/C system.
2. Remove windshield wiper arms, then the fresh air well cover.
3. Remove fresh air blower mounting screws, then disconnect electrical connectors.
4. Lift blower slightly and disconnect vacuum line, then remove blower.
5. Remove tray holder and ashtray, then the radio, if equipped.
6. Remove mounting screws on cover frame of center console, then console mounting screws and console.
7. Disconnect horn pad, then remove steering wheel.
8. Remove instrument cover, then unscrew and pull out instrument cluster.
9. Disconnect electrical connections on cluster, then remove cluster.

10. Remove sun visors, trim panel on front roof beam and trim panels on A-pillars.
11. Disconnect and unclip glove compartment light.
12. Remove glove compartment mounting screws and glove compartment.
13. Remove instrument panel mounting screws, then pull air guides out of instrument panel and remove panel.
14. Unclip instrument panel wiring harness, then disconnect connector.
15. Disconnect connector at interior sensor blower, then remove air ducts.
16. Remove drainage hose, then disconnect A/C lines.
17. Remove vacuum lines, then disconnect refrigerant hoses.
18. Remove inside and outside fastening nuts, then the bracket for instrument panel.
19. Remove Heater/A/C unit.
20. Separate unit case halves, then remove heater core from case.
21. Reverse procedure to install.
