Adjustment of the chain tensioner is performed by hydraulic pressure cylinders and spring packs. Switchover pulses to the solenoid (1) are produced
by the DME control unit.
Basic setting: deenergized, both sliders 2 and 3 "at top".
As solenoid (1) is actuated by the DME control unit, engine oil pressure forces both sliders (2 and 3) "down". This corresponds to the "high torque"
setting in the middle rpm range.
