Cooling System - Coolant Breather Hose Information

Coolant System: Replacement/Reconditioned Engines Without Breather Hose

Concerns:

Breather hose between coolant reservoir and heat exchanger (engines M96.20, M96.21, M96.22, M96.23, M96.24, M96.25, M96.26)

Information:

Replacement/reconditioned engines without breather hose

INFORMATION:  If the engine in a vehicle is replaced with a replacement or reconditioned engine, the coolant breather hose between the
coolant reservoir and oil/water heat exchanger must remain installed on the vehicle.

Work Procedure:

The breather hose must be removed at the heat exchanger (--> Figure 1 -item A-) after the engine is removed from the vehicle.

The removed breather hose must be reinstalled on the new engine (replacement or reconditioned engine), which will be installed in the vehicle.

If the new engine comes pre-fitted with a breather hose, this must be replaced with the removed breather hose.
