Door Pocket - Noises When Opening and Closing Lid
Vehicle Type:
Boxster (987)/Boxster S (987)
Model Year:
2005
Concerns:
Rattling noises when opening and closing the lid for the door pocket.
Information:
When opening and closing the door pocket lid, rattling noises can occur on the gear wheels of the guide mechanism of the lid. The cause is insufficient
bracing of the mounting for the lid hinge which can result in the gear wheel on the damper of the lid hinge jumping over individual teeth of the toothed
segment on the lid under unfavorable tolerance conditions.
To prevent the gear wheel from jumping over, the spacer is designed with additional securing rib on the mounting of the lid hinge as of the date of
introduction listed below. Only modified spacers with additional securing rib will be delivered through the parts department.
On vehicles produced before the stated introduction dates, the spacer on the mounting of the lid hinge and the damper of the lid hinge must be replaced
whenever there is a customer complaint. Additionally, the toothed segment on the lid must be visually inspected. If the teeth of the toothed segment are
visibly damaged, the lid of the door pocket must also be replaced.
Date of Introduction: March 21, 2005, as of the VINs shown.
