Power Steering Line/Hose: Service and Repair

Removing and Installing Hose for Power Steering

Preliminary work

1. Raise the vehicle and switch off the levelling system.

2. Drain fluid from the power steering reservoir using suction.
3. Remove underbody protection.

Tools and materials

1. Open-ended/ring wrench a/f 10.

General warning notes

1. Danger of slipping when lines are loosened
2. Avoid all contact with Pentosin.

Technical values

1. Pressure line to steering gear: 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)
2. Filling capacity for Pentosin CHF 202: 0.5 liters

Removing

1. Remove heat insulation -A- from steering gear.

Information:
Pentosin can leak out.

Have a drip pan or container ready

2. Remove pressure line -B-.

Installing

1. Fit pressure line to steering gear (observe tightening torque).
2. Fit heat insulation to steering gear.

Subsequent work

1. Fit underbody protection to vehicle.
2. Top up Pentosin CHF 202.
3. Bleed the steering gear and top up with Pentosin.
4. Perform a visual check for leaks in the pressure line.
