Pulsed Secondary Air Injection: Testing and Inspection
1. Raise and support front of vehicle, making sure that both drive wheels are off the ground.

2. Connect test lamp between positive terminal on vacuum solenoid, (9), Fig. 8, and ground.
3. Start engine and run in second gear while observing test lamp.
4. On acceleration, lamp should remain lit until speed exceeds 21 mph. On deceleration, lamp should light when speed falls below 17 mph. If not,
replace centrifugal governor.
5. Disconnect vacuum line at throttle control diaphragm (V), Fig. 8, and connect a vacuum gauge to the line.
6. Start engine and run in second gear while observing gauge.
7. On acceleration, gauge should show vacuum when speed exceeds 21 mph. On deceleration gauge should show vacuum until speed falls below 17
MPH.
8. To adjust accelerated idle, disconnect wiring harness connector at centrifugal governor and connect terminals on connector with a jumper wire.
9. Start engine and adjust screw on throttle control diaphragm (V), Fig. 8, to obtain an engine speed of 1500 RPM.
10. Remove jumper wire and reconnect wiring harness connector at governor. Test system as in steps 1-3, while observing engine speed. Speed should
not fall below 1500 RPM on deceleration until speedometer reads less than 17 mph.
