Shift Modulator: Adjustments
The following procedures can be performed using standard shop equipment. However, further testing of electronic control components
requires the use of diagnostic tester B.Vi.958 (early models), MS 1700 (late models) or a suitable equivalent.
Vacuum capsule adjustment is performed to obtain oil pressures specified in ``Oil Pressure Check.'' Prior to adjusting capsule to alter oil pressure, ensure
capsule is satisfactory using the following procedure.
1.
Check vacuum signal line between manifold and capsule for cracks, breaks and blockage, and repair as needed.
2.
Disconnect signal line from vacuum capsule. If oil leakage is evident at capsule vacuum port, capsule is defective.
3.
Apply approximately 16 inches Hg vacuum to capsule using a suitable pump with an integral gauge.
4.
If capsule fails to hold vacuum, capsule is defective.
5.
If capsule holds vacuum, check oil pressure as outlined in ``Oil Pressure Check.''
6.
If oil pressure is not as specified, remove vacuum capsule retaining bolt and bracket.
7.
Rotate capsule clockwise to increase pressure, or counterclockwise to decrease pressure. Rotating capsule 2 notches changes pressure by 1.5 psi
(0.1 bar).
8.
After adjusting capsule, secure position with bracket and bolt and repeat pressure checks. If oil pressure can not be adjusted to specified values,
check and repair transaxle as needed.
