1.

Cut retaining collar and boot lengthwise and remove as much grease as possible.

2.

Using suitable pliers, open retaining ring and simultaneously hit hub, housing balls, with rubber mallet, separating joint from shaft.

3.

Install new rubber retaining collar and boot on shaft, then slide joint assembly, with retaining ring, onto shaft until ring fits into retaining groove on
shaft.

4.

Spread approximately 5 ounces of suitable grease inside boot, then position lips of boot in grooves of driveshaft bowl and the driveshaft.

Fabricate two rods to dimensions shown in Fig. 6, then fit retaining collars on boot by using rods to expand collars.
