For 1983 - 1985 models, remove the console attaching screws (Fig. 7):
a. Remove the two screws from the top of the console by the clock and snap off the overlay bezel (removal of radio attaching nuts is necessary on
certain models).
b. Remove the clock and package tray from the console to access the speed nuts attaching the top of the console to the instrument panel.
c. Remove the two speed nuts that retain the console at the top to the instrument panel. Note: 1986 and 1987 vehicles have clips which hold the
console to the instrument panel.
d. Remove the four screws attaching the heater controls to the console. (This will allow the center console to be moved rearward without
damaging the heater cables.)
