For tilt column vehicles, remove the upper and lower housing covers around the ignition switch and remove the lower steering column trim cover
using the sequence shown in Fig. 10b.  

Important:

To avoid breaking the lower trim cover, remove the trim in the order shown.

Disconnect the dash light  rheostat electrical connector, cruise control command switch wire harness if so equipped, and any other electrical
connectors from the lower steering column trim cover.

For standard column vehicles: Remove the 2 screws attaching the turn signal and headlight switch and move the switch outboard to allow
clearance for removal of the steering column shaft retaining ring.
