Tighten the bleed screw.

5.

Fill the coolant bottle and start the engine. Add coolant if necessary. Note the flow of coolant from the bleeder tee to the coolant bottle. If no flow
exists, shut off the engine and clean the bleeder tee located in the cylinder head by the thermostat housing. (The small hose is the bleed hose).

Replace the pressure cap.

Start the engine and allow it to run until the thermostat opens. Once again open the radiator bleeder to ensure that all air is out of the system.
Continue to allow the engine to run for several minutes.

Shut off the engine and slowly remove the pressure cap from the coolant bottle.

9.

Check the coolant bottle and add coolant if needed to fill to the full mark. The full mark is a small post located directly below the opening for the
pressure cap, inside the bottle. Add coolant until the post is just covered by coolant. Reinstall the pressure cap.

If it becomes necessary to remove a quick-connect, first pinch both sides of the exposed white locking ring until the leading edge of the tabs can slide
under the edge of the quick-connect body. Then push the quick-connect off the heater core nipple. Finally, remove the white nylon locking ring from the
nipple and reinsert it in the quick-connect body.

V.  Inspect/Replace Coolant Bottle Cap-1985, 86 and 87 Vehicles

All 1985 - 1987 vehicles were previously recalled to replace the engine coolant bottle cap to ensure proper steam venting if the engine overheats, (Safety
Recall #425, July, 1988).

Inspect each 1985, 1986 and 1987 model to ensure that the revised bottle cap is present, using the following procedure:

1.

Locate the engine coolant bottle in the right (passenger side) rear corner of the engine compartment.

2.

Inspect the coolant bottle cap:

^ If a black, domed cap is present (Fig. 24), it is the revised version and it does not need to be replaced.

^ If a non-black cap with a raised stem is present (Fig. 25), it is an original cap and must be replaced. Install revised cap, Part Number 4546111.

Completion Reporting and Reimbrusement

Claims for vehicles which have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System.  Claims submitted will be used by Chrysler to record recall
service

completions and provide dealer payments.
