STEERING COLUMN SOUEAK
Information
The steering column on some Alliance models may produce a squeak when the steering wheel is being turned.
To eliminate the squeak, inspect and service steering column components as follows.

PROCEDURE
1.
Service the steering gear and steering shaft lower bushing as follows:
A.
Coat steering gear input shaft seal A (Fig. 1) with power steering fluid.

Coat the 2-piece lower steering shaft-totoeboard bushing with Molycote 33. Pull boot 2 back to expose bushing 3 (Fig. 2). Separate the
bushing halves and apply the Molycote 33. Realign the bushing halves, install the boot, and turn steering wheel left and right.

If squeak persists, proceed to step 2.

Inspect and service the upper steering shaft bushings or bearings as follows:
