Wheel Bearing: Service and Repair
Rear Hub & Bearings Replace
1.
Release parking brake, raise and support vehicle, then remove wheel.
2.
Loosen handbrake secondary cable.
3.
Remove grease cap, stub axle nut and washer.
4.
Remove brake drum and hub assembly using slide hammer and suitable adapter. If brake drums are difficult to remove, retract brake shoes by
removing access cover at rear of support plate, unseat automatic adjuster lever, and back off adjuster screw.
5.
Remove bearing snap ring and bearing from drum.
6.
Reverse procedure to install, torquing locking nut to 118 ft.lbs. and wheel lug nuts to 55 ft.lbs.
