For 1986 - 1987 models, (Fig. 8): Snap off the heater control cover bezel and remove the two heater control attaching screws and pull the console
free from the instrument panel clips.

For all models: Pull the console as far rearward as possible between the front seats. NOTE: No electrical connections need to be removed.
D. Brake Pedal or Brake/Clutch Pedal Removal

Remove the stop lamp switch trim cover (Fig. 9).

Remove and discard the inboard retaining clip from the brake pedal (or brake/clutch pedal) pivot pin. (Leave the outboard clip on at this time. On
manual transmission vehicles this will help retain the clutch mechanism on the pivot pin as required in step 4 below. The clip will be replaced
during later reassembly.)
3.
Remove and discard the cotter pin from the end of the master cylinder push rod pin. Remove and save the pin and plastic bushing.
