Remove the cam sprocket key (44).

Remove the mounting plate bolts (45) and remove the timing belt cover mounting plate (46).

Remove the spark plugs (47) (Fig. 20).
8.
Mark the camshaft bearing caps for assembly reference.
NOTE:
Although the bearing caps are numbered according to front-back position on the head, they are not marked for sideto-side location.
9.
Remove the camshaft bearing cap bolts
(48) and remove the bearing caps (Fig. 20).

Remove the camshaft (49) (Fig. 21).
11.
Remove and discard the camshaft front and rear oil seals. New seals will be used at assembly.
