Adjustment of the ISA motor is only necessary to establish the initial position of the ISA plunger after the motor has been removed and installed or
replaced.

1.

Remove air cleaner assembly, then start engine and allow to warm up. If equipped with A/C, ensure it is off.

2.

Connect suitable tachometer to diagnostic terminals D1-1 and D1-3, Fig. 4, then turn ignition Off.

3.

The ISA plunger should extend to the fully extended position.

4.

With ISA plunger fully extended, disconnect ISA motor wire harness and start engine.

5.

Engine should run at 3300 to 3700 RPM. If engine speed is not correct, turn hex head screw on end of ISA plunger as necessary to bring engine
RPM within limits.

6.

Retract ISA plunger by holding Closed Throttle (Idle) Switch plunger inward while throttle is opened.

7.

The Closed Throttle (Idle) Switch plunger should not be touching the throttle lever when the throttle is returned to the closed position. If contact is
noted, check throttle linkage for binding or damage and replace as necessary.

8.

Connect ISA motor wire connector, then turn ignition switch Off for ten seconds. The ISA should move to the fully extended position.

9.

Start engine. Engine speed should be approximately 3500 RPM for a short period of time, then gradually drop off to normal idle speed. Turn
engine Off.

10.

Apply Loctite 290 or equivalent to ISA plunger adjustment screw threads. If readjustment is necessary it will be necessary to soften the
locking compound with a soldering gun. Do not use flame type heat to soften locking compound as damage to the ISA motor will result.
