Only the following Renault passenger cars with Federal emission systems are eligible for this recall:

1985 Alliance/Encore with 1.7L engine and manual transmission
-
1986 Alliance/Encore with 1.7L engine
-
1987 GTA with 2.0L engine

Cars which have already been repaired under warranty using an improved catalytic converter, which does not have a heat blanket, have been
excluded from the recall.

NOTE: Enclosed is a copy of the dealer notification letter for California
Emissions Recall # 454, for your information. Service requirements for
Recall # 454 are identical to those of the subject Federal Emissions Recall
# 459.
Some vehicles involved in Recall # 454 are located outside of California.
Refer to the enclosed Recall # 454 instructions for repair of such involved vehicles upon request.
