Steering Gear: Service and Repair
Steering Gear Replace

1.

Raise and support front of vehicle.

2.

Remove steering arm ball joint nuts.

3.

Using tool T.Av. 476 or equivalent, remove ball joint assembly.

4.

Remove universal joint bolt.

5.

Note position of steering wheel, universal joint, and steering rack and pinion in relation to each other. Mark position of steering rack and pinion.

6.

Remove two steering rack and pinion mounting bolts.

7.

Remove steering rack and pinion complete with arms.

8.

Reverse procedure to install, torquing steering ball joint nut to 26 ft.lbs., and steering rack and pinion mounting bolts to 40 ft.lbs.
