Install Vehicle Emission Control Information Update Label, part number 89 33 000 525, next to the original label.
This adjustment applies to all 1983 1229-1399 models that were sold for principal use at altitudes below 4,000 feet. Refer to the Vehicle Emission
Control Label in the engine compartment to identify these vehicles.
NOTE:
Whenever the vehicle is returned to operation at altitudes below 4,000 feet the ignition timing and engine idle speed must be reset to the
specifications on the original Vehicle Emission Control Information Label and Vehicle Emission Control Update Label part number 89
33 000 525, must be removed.
On 1229-1399 models originally sold for operation at altitudes above 4,000 feet that are being operated below 4,000 feet, the primary main and air
jets must be changed and ignition timing and engine idle speed reset as outlined in the following procedure.
1.
Replace the original #115 primary main jet in the carburetor with a new #117 primary main jet, part number 77 01 023 390.
2.
Replace the original #180 primary air jet in the carburetor with a new #160 primary air jet, part number 08 70 102 301.
3.
Reset ignition timing to 3~ BTDC and reset engine idle to the setting indicated on the original Vehicle Emission Control Information Label in
the engine compartment.
4.
Install Vehicle Emission Control Update Label, part number 89 33 000 526, next to the original label.

NOTE:
Whenever the vehicle is returned to service at altitudes above 4,000 feet the #115 carburetor primary main jet and the #180 primary air jet
must be reinstalled and the ignition timing and idle speed reset to the specifications on the original emission control label and Emission
Control Information Update Label part number 89 33 000 526, must be removed.
