Lateral Accelerometer: Testing and Inspection
G Sensor
INSPECTION
CHECK Vehicle Diagnostic Interface.
Do you have a Vehicle Diagnostic Interface?
Yes
->
No
->
CHECK G SENSOR.
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Remove the G sensor from vehicle.
Connect the connector to G sensor.
Turn the ignition switch to ON.
Measure the voltage between G sensor connector terminals.
Connector & terminal
(B292) No. 2 (+) - No. 3
Is the voltage 2.3±0.2 Volts when G sensor is horizontal?
Yes
->
No
Replace the G sensor.
CHECK G SENSOR.
Measure the voltage between G sensor connector terminals.
Connector & terminal
(B292) No. 2 (+) - No. 3 (-);
Is the voltage 3.9±0.2 Volts when G sensor is inclined forwards to 90°?
Yes
->
No
Replace the G sensor.
CHECK G SENSOR.
Measure the voltage between G sensor connector terminals.
Connector & terminal
(B292) No. 2 (+) - No. 3 (-);
Is the voltage 0.7±0.2 Volts when G sensor is inclined backwards to 90°?
Yes
G sensor is normal.
No
Replace the G sensor.
CHECK G SENSOR.
Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
Connect the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface to data link connector.
Turn the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface into (BRAKE CONTROL) mode.
Set the display in the Current Data Display & Save mode.
Read the G sensor output voltage.
Is the indicated reading 2.3±0.2 Volts when the vehicle is in horizontal position?
Yes
->
No
Replace the G sensor.
CHECK G SENSOR.
Remove the console box.
Remove the G sensor from vehicle. (Do not disconnect the connector.)
Read the Vehicle Diagnostic Interface display.
Is the indicated reading 3.9±0.2 Volts when G sensor is inclined forwards to 90°?
Yes
->
No
