Reprogramming of T8 engine management system

Cars in stock must be rectified before delivery.

A personal communication must be sent to the owners of cars already delivered requesting them to get in touch with the nearest Saab garage as soon as
possible to have the fault rectified.

Cars affected

Saab 9-3 (9440) M03 with engine variant B207R within VIN range 31016602 - 31036117.

Note

All cars within the VIN range are not affected.

Background

In certain driving cases, the CHECK ENGINE lamp comes on and diagnostic trouble code P0244 is detected. The reason is a turbo boost pressure higher
than the permitted limit value which is detected by the engine management system. In turn, this can cause the engine to be lowered to basic charging
pressure. New software can rectify the problem according to the following.

Symptom description

CHECK ENGINE lamp on
DTC P0244 detected
Reduced engine performance

Procedure

Examine box A5 on the modification identity plate before proceeding. Continue as follows if the box is not marked:

Install the new software according to the table. Follow the instructions in WIS - General - TIS2000 - Technical description - Service Programming
System.

Marking the modification identity plate

On completion of the necessary rectification, box A5 on the modification identity plate must be marked. If the work was carried out by the importer,
mark the box with a "7". If done by a dealer, mark it with an "8".
