Procedure:

Use a new key or key of another car to verify that the key catch is broken.

Replace ISM.

Note:

New ISM introduced as of VIN 31007202 (4D).

ISM - Key detector gets stuck in the ignition switch (ISM)

Cars affected:
Saab 9-3 (9440) 4D up to VIN 41033107 
Saab 9-3 (9440) CV up to VIN 46011569

Background:

Customer complaint, such as the radio keeps playing, it is not possible to lock the car or that the key warning sounds when the key has been
removed.

A material fault in the ignition switch can cause the plastic washer (key detector) which detects whether the key is in or out of the ignition switch,
does not go up when the key is removed.

Procedure:

Replace the faulty ISM.

Note:

New improved ISM introduced as of VIN 41033108 (4D) and 46011570 (CV).

ISM - Background illumination

Cars affected:
Saab 9-3 (9440) M04-

Note:

The background illumination in ISM has been eliminated as of M04.

SCL - "Not added", CIM - DTC B3943 and B3946

Cars affected:
Saab 9-3 (9440) CV

Background:

This is not a problem brought to light by customer complaint.

Procedure:

Delete the DTCs and check the function.

Do not replace CIM or SCL.

Note:

Improved checking of the installation process was introduced as of M05.

Background:

Customer complaint about stability control (ESP).
