1. Fit the pump and tighten the bolts.

Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.) 

2. Fit the delivery pipe with bracket and nipple to the pump.

Tightening torque (nipple): 28 Nm (21 ft. lbs.) 

3. Attach the suction hose to the pump and remove the pinch-off pliers.

Tightening torque: 4 Nm (3 ft. lbs.) 

4. Fit the pump belt and make sure it is fitted correctly on all the pulleys.
5. Fit the air filter unit.

Engine with turbocharger:

Fit the hose to the turbo pipe.

Viggen RHD:

Fit the brace between the suspension strut towers.

6. Fill up the system with fresh fluid as per specification.

Note:

Always use fresh fluid.

Do not turn the steering wheel. Air could then get into the system and be the cause of longer bleeding times.

7. Run the engine for 5 seconds.

Warning:  The pump could be damaged if the engine is run for longer than 5 seconds. 

8. Check the fluid level in the reservoir and top up as necessary. At 20°C, it should be midway between the MAX and MIN marks.
9. Start the engine again and run it until the fluid in the reservoir stops bubbling. Use a work light to see properly.

An abnormally loud noise from the pump indicates that there is still some air in the system.

10. Stop the engine and check the fluid level. Top up as necessary.
11. Check the pump connections for leaks.
